I’m probably the last person on earth to figure this out, and even then I owe all the credit to Tamar Adler.
Put bread in toaster.
While bread toasts, chop up some tomatoes.
Toss tomatoes with salt, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar.
Add some basil if you’ve got it.
Peel a clove of garlic.
Now the toast is done.
Rub toast with the garlic.
Tear toast into chunks.
Toss with tomatoes.
I think I could eat it every meal. It’s also good with sardines, if you need heartier fare, and I’m sure that some mozzarella would fit in just fine, too.
